Legislative Day is the centerpiece of the Maryland Pharmacy Coalition's efforts to send a unified pharmacy message to our legislators in Annapolis. The Coalition organizes position statements on many of the legislative bills affecting pharmacy practice and brings hundreds of student pharmacists and pharmacists together to educate legislators and staff about the importance of pharmacy practice to the public health for the state of Maryland.
The day begins with a briefing and orientation at the Francis Scott Key auditorium at St. John's College. All attendees are organized into groups by legislative district and meet with legislators or their staff members during designated appointments. Event participants answer questions about pharmacy practice and education. Every year pharmacy's presence is noticeable and continues to make a strong impact as healthcare issues are discussed in the General Assembly.
This year, keep an eye out for new and innovative ways to participate in the Legislative Day effort. Your engagement in supporting pharmacy efforts in the state is valuable. We look forward to your participation this year!
